How To Start Blogging

July 16th, 2008 -- Posted in Home Business Ideas, Time Management | 5 Comments »

If you’re reading this you certainly are aware of "blogs". You may even have one (or more) of your own. But, what if you want to start blogging and don’t know where to start? Or, what if you just don’t want to take the time to setup all the details to get it up and going?

Well, I have a resource for you HERE….

Before starting though you may want to ask yourself, "why do I want to start a blog"?

Here are some reasons I’m aware of:

  • Websites are now considered "static" info
  • Blogs are interactive and easy to maintain yourself
  • Because they’re interactive and info changes frequently the search engines love them. (Doesn’t hurt to get more exposure!)
  • You can get more personable with your audience

What type of Blog layout interests you?

  • Personal, Business, Combined
  • 2 Column, or 3 Column
  • Bright, flashy color schemes or more subdued
  • If you know who your target audience will be, this might determine colors, and style used

The resource I recommend to get you up and rolling is the Whole Hog Blogs . They can help you with defining those answers, plus more. Also, tell them Janet sent you!

Please leave a comment and let me know if you have set your Blogs up yourself or who may have assisted you :-)

Until next time, J.

Financial Planning For Women

July 15th, 2008 -- Posted in Carbon Copy Pro, Home Business Ideas, Retirement | 1 Comment »

Did you know that an estimated 80% of American women will need to take charge of their finances at some point in their adult lives? With more women entering the workforce, divorce rates climbing, and women surviving their spouses - more wealth than ever will be placed in the hands of women . Hopefully you will know how to handle it and invest it wisely. Understanding your finances will empower you and make you feel more in control and prepared for the future.

Where do you learn these skills though? You’ve heard the saying, "It’s hard to enough to make money, but even harder to keep it", right? Think about the skills you will need most by reviewing the following:

  • Determine your financial strengths and weaknesses
  • Think about how to invest to become financially secure and independent
  • Be sure you have credit in your name (not just jointly with your spouse)
  • Determine your net worth
  • Research clubs, associations and/or advisors who can provide you with information to make your own decisions

You can now learn more about these skills and others, HERE….

Please leave a comment about where and how you’ve been educating yourself and raising your Financial IQ…. :-)

Until next time, J.

Some tips on how to save and invest will be provided so we can possibly retire with money not being a key concern. Interested? You should be!

Please leave me a comment about your concerns for retirement…. I’d love to hear them … :-)

Work From Home and Supplement Your Retirement

July 9th, 2008 -- Posted in Carbon Copy Pro, Home Business Ideas, Retirement | 1 Comment »

Did you know that surveys reflect that nearly half of the workforce currently thinks their employers and/or government are responsible for their retirement and all the costs associated with it? Wow - is that entitlement mentality or what? This isn’t our grandparents or even our parents generation any longer - where you stay and get the gold watch and pension. More people (75 million to be closer) are looking for alternatives such as owning their own business and working from home.

With life expectancy being longer and about 78 million baby boomers beginning to retire - things are about to change! 20 to 30 years from now there will be twice as many people eligible for Social Security, but many less paying into it. So do you think money will be there when you’re "ready to collect"? It’s only a matter of time before age eligibility is raised; benefits are cut, or both.

Be pro-active and take responsibility for your own financial welfare. Ladies - especially you! Your life expectancy is even longer than men’s. Find your passion and turn it into a business. You can start slow and part time even. Working from home can be incredibly lucrative and allow you to retire in comfort.

Leave a comment about what you plan to do for retiring in comfort , or are you expecting the government to take care of you…. :-)

Until next time, J.

Can a Home-Based Business Help Your Retirement Plan?

July 8th, 2008 -- Posted in Carbon Copy Pro, Home Business Ideas, Wealth Strategies | No Comments »

Admit it. You’ve thought about your retirement plan - right? So what’s the number you came up with to live comfortably? You may need to consider a home based business….

Chances are you said something much larger than $25,000 I bet. But did you know that according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute 60% of current retirees have less than $25,000 in savings and investments?

Excuse me!? But, how do they do it? Sure, they may be receiving Social Security and Medicare benefits, but can you imagine going into your Golden years "unprepared" ? How do you travel, treat the grandkids, and explore your hobbies, not to mention potential health related issues?

Those in the workforces need a reality check too! The same survey shows that 36% of workers have less than $10,000 in savings.

If you’re not able to plan for your future with the salary you’re currently making it may be time to start a home based business . Begin slow (part time) to supplement your income and then invest it for your future. There are many tax advantages that may surprise you as well.

"Take control of your destiny or someone else will" (And that might not be a positive thing!!)

Please leave a comment about how you are planning to "fund" your retirement…. :-)

“ID Syndrome” - How to Quiet Your Needy Inner Voice

July 5th, 2008 -- Posted in Home Business Ideas, Time Management, Wealth Strategies | 1 Comment »

Here’s an interesting article discussing the 3 steps to being more productive at work (by Bob Cox )
Please leave a comment about the steps YOU take to be more productive… :-)

I need to e-mail my sister this video of dogs and cats playing. It is so cute, she will love it.
I need to check my favorite sports team website to see who has been traded and all the recent rumors surrounding our star pitcher.
I need to call Bill to set up our golf game for next week.
I need to add to my blog so my readers will be updated on my latest insights into Obama’s campaign.
I need to go online and pick out a gift for Aunt Sarah’s birthday.
I really need to think about where I’m going for lunch and what I’m going to eat.

Do any of the above sound familiar? Of course they do!

I call this "ID Syndrome " - the disease of Internal Distraction . And unless you learn how to defeat this affliction, you won’t get anywhere at work or in life.

We all have personal thoughts like these while we are working. But there’s a big difference between how high achievers deal with them and how people who never do better than the status quo deal with them. You see, high achievers recognize that these thoughts are WANTS - not NEEDS - that should be dealt with outside of the working day.

Here’s a little example of just how problematic internal distractions can become…
