Barrier to Smart Investing?

There was an article recently in AARP Magazine that posted some interesting results of a survey regarding consumer awareness and investing, for the 50+ age group. Here’s some of them:

  • 60% of Americans say they don’t read financial literature because it’s too hard to understand
  • 41% or Americans who are "turned off" to financial jargon
  • 30% made an investment they regretted because of not understanding it
  • 54% of Americans who think and IRS tax form is easier to understand than a mutual fund prospectus

This Thursday, August 21st there will be a live panel discussion from 5 notable financial leaders , discussing education, health care and saving money. Take a look here to find out more.

How is your financial IQ? Do you avoid investing like the plague…. please leave a comment. :-)

Until next time, J.
