Have you ever met or known someone who is living in retirement the way you have dreamed of? Do you have a "role model" that you can talk with, and see how they accomplished their dream?
I’ve been blessed to have observed very closely such a couple - my parents.
Each Fall they always take an adventure trip for at least a month. They are currently in Egypt riding camels, riding in a hot air balloon at sunrise over the pyramids, and cruising down the Nile river. Wow! Do I want to experience life like that, by being a participant versus an observer! continue reading »

This week my posts will be minimal (if any, other than the one you’re reading) as I’m off on vacation, cruising to Mexico. However, my home business is still working for me while I’m gone - how about yours?
The reason I can generate leads and sales while traveling is because of the systems in place. If you want to be able to travel and work simultaneously here are some suggestions of items to address when exploring a home based business:

Jimmy Davis and Dennis Karganilla of the MLM Goldmine were presenters at the CCPro marketing event last weekend. It is so refreshing to see a person’s passion come out in their work. They even shook it up with Dennis, aka "DK", performing a break dance at the end of their training!
These guys deliver, by providing practical strategies that could be put into motion immediately. They’re both fans of Mike Dillard’s also, so the theme of Attraction Marketing was continued. They call it "MyStory " marketing, which is based on providing copy to draw people to you and getting them to feel your emotions.
Their bragging rights include generating more than 1 million leads using FREE marketing. Here are some of the sites they recommend using continue reading »

I grew up in a pretty conservative household when it came to saving and spending money. Guess that’s why I started teaching my daughter, Mikaila, when she was young (& the other kids in my life) to be responsible with their money early on. By the way, she’s the baby and just turned 21 today! Happy Birthday kiddo!
I believe in giving children an allowance for two reasons. One, it instills in them a sense of pride completing a responsibility and receiving something tangible for their efforts. But secondarily (& most important I think), is to teach them how to manage money early on.
I gave the kids 4 "piggy banks" when they were about 4 years old and explained continue reading »

The CCPro Marketing event was presented to a full house this past Saturday and the line up of speakers had everyone on the edge of their chairs. Literally! The room was so full, there wasn’t space for tables. We were all sitting shoulder to shoulder with notepads in our laps.
Aaron Parkinson and Jay Kubassek, the co-founders of Carbon Copy Pro have embraced the fact that marketing is not just about selling. It’s about building a relationship or "Attraction Marketing ". There is no better authority on this than Mike Dillard who is the author of Magnetic Sponsoring . I highly recommend his programs. While he wasn’t an official speaker at the event this time - the day focused on the principles he teaches.
Here are a few of the concepts to think about: continue reading »

I’m excited about this upcoming weekend as I will be attending the Carbon Copy Pro Marketing event, in Dallas. I will have the opportunity to be exposed to some cutting edge ideas to grow my home based business, as well as network with old and new colleagues. These events are always a breath of fresh air for me, and I come back invigorated and ready to "hit it" again.
I’ll provide a recap next week for you….. there will be some incredible presenters - so stay tuned.
What do you do to keep fresh ideas and new techniques coming to you
Until next time, J.

The Department of Treasury and the Ad Council has recently created a campaign targeted to 18-24 year olds, to introduce them to "debt management and credit ". They’ve developed an interactive game by the name of "The Bad Credit Hotel ". I played it last night and there is some good information provided. The fact that it is interactive makes it more interesting; particularly for the age group they’re trying to reach.
A statement they sent to me said, "According to a study conducted by Sallie Mae, more than 50 percent of college students accumulate more than $5,000 in credit card debt while in school. Additionally, Capital One reported that only 10 percent of high schools in America teach financial management and continue reading »

Sometimes others can say it best and are worth quoting. Here’s something from Seth Godin on the Right Time to Start a Business:
- "Whenever a business cycle starts to falter, the media start wringing their hands. Then big businesses do, then freelancers, entrepreneurs, and soon everyone is keening.
- "People and organizations that have no real financial stress start to pull back, ‘because it’s prudent.’ Now is not the time, they say.
- "Growth is frightening for a lot of people. It brings change and the opportunity for public failure. So if continue reading »

What? Define my target audience? I thought marketing online meant determining a few good keywords, running some ads, placing a dozen banners, and then people would find my site and buy. Viola! While that might have worked for a few folks a number of years ago when marketing online was fairly new, NOW it’s a whole new world! If you aren’t defining WHO you’re targeting, you are WASTING advertising dollars. Those of you who are marketing for FREE on Web 2.0 social sites are wasting continue reading »
