How To Separate Effectiveness From Efficiency

January 30th, 2009 -- Posted in Marketing Tips, Time Management, Wealth Strategies, personal development | No Comments »

Here’s a catch up on Part 3 of Darren Hardy’s article for Workaholics .  You may recall the first 2 steps he reviewed:

  • Figure out the things you need to stop doing
  • Learn to set and protect boundaries

In the next step Darren reviews the importance of going in the right direction of your goals versus focusing on the speed of getting there .  I happen to agree with him on this point.  It doesn’t do much good to be going like crazy, throwing marketing materials out right and left, if they’re not continue reading »

Have You Ever Heard of a Happy Homeless Man?

January 28th, 2009 -- Posted in Misc Ranting | 1 Comment »

How can a homeless man be happy, you say?  Well, this was sent to me and I had to share it – some things are meant to be passed around to make each other smile.  I hope this does that for you!  :-)

This is a video of a homeless man in Santa Barbara, CA and his pets. They work State Street every week for donations. The animals are pretty well fed and are mellow. They are a family. The man who owns them rigged up a harness for his cat so she wouldn’t have to walk so much (like the dog and himself). At some juncture the rat came along, and as no one wanted to eat anyone else, the rat started riding with the cat and, often, on the cat! The dog, will stand all day and let you talk to him and admire him for a few chin scratches. The Mayor of Santa Barbara filmed this clip and sent it out as a holiday card.

How to Clear Your Mind for the Week

January 26th, 2009 -- Posted in Another Welcomed Weekend, Misc Ranting, Vacations and Fun, Wealth Strategies | 3 Comments »

To be productive it’s sometimes best to be non-productive at times.  It will clear your mind of business related issues, allow you to regenerate, often giving you better ideas when you get back to your office.

How many of you live near a really interesting place, but seldom take advantage of all it has to offer?  Well, I live about 30 miles east of San Francisco .  People come from all over the world to take in it’s beauty and activities – but I seldom do.  I have been to places like Hong Kong , Mexico, Hawaii , the Carribean, the Bahamas , Italy, and about 20% of the U.S., however I have never walked across the Golden Gate Bridge .  I’ve driven over it, just have never walked it – until Sunday!

What a different perspective one gets when walking.  You can actually take the time to look, smell, and feel (which is why I like motorcycles too).  The intention initially was to visit the new museum in Golden Gate Park.  It houses the new planetarium, aquarium and rain forest .  They even have an albino alligator in resident.  The lines were so long to even get in though, and the thought of standing 6 deep to see a display didn’t appeal to me.  Another time….. so Plan B – the bridge!  (Another thought – do you have a Plan B for business activities that may not come to fruition?) continue reading »
