Financial Situations Change with Recession Intervention

I had posted the other day about social security and how there won’t be an increase for those getting checks this year, plus the fact that it’s in dire shape. (No surprise though is it?) As many of you are aware I volunteer and drive for Meals on Wheels each Wednesday.  Did I get an earful from many of the folks today! We discussed the fact that their financial situations change at the whim of government and they don’t have the resources (time, money, or in some cases physical ability) to create a recession intervention .  A plan B, a way to create supplemental income, a way to help them over the hump (whether be short term or long term) ~ they (being seniors) don’t have much of a chance to increase their net worth , and in many cases even break even.

Now I am a Baby Boomer , probably beyond my mid years unless I can live to be well over 100, which I know is not likely.  However, I do have the resources (and motivation) to take control of my own destiny !  How many of you are sitting by the sidelines thinking life will be the same (or better) in the next 6 months or so?  The only people I hear saying it will be better are those who are working for themselves.  And those who aren’t yet are in the process of setting up a business part time ~ first goal they have is to supplement their income, and get out of debt .  The next is to achieve a lifestyle they so very much long for (like seeing their families and not working 80 hour weeks because of company downsizing )  If this sounds familiar, do something.

Take the initiative to learn some new skills, get clear on some goals and make a plan B.  It might just become your Plan A before you realize it.

Wouldn’t that help you sleep at night knowing you won’t have to rely on the government telling you how much money you’ll have to live on?  Take a look here at what’s working for many just like you who are wanting a way to take control !

Until next time, J.

  1. HRM Says:

I have always believe that we are always in control of our destiny, including our finances, unless of course we allow others or situations to meddle with us.

This recession should have made most of us realized that good times never last and those things that we thought should secure our future, like our jobs, will eventually fail.

The key here is being proactive and taking a 101% responsibility in what we can do like what you suggested in your post.
