FTC Guidelines ~ Only Days for You to be Compliant

November 25th, 2009 -- Posted in Marketing Tips, Misc Ranting | 3 Comments »

I’d like to thank Rose Mis, a member of BetterNetworker.com, for reminding all of us of the updated FTC Guidelines for Endorsements and Testimonials are effective December 1.  If you are an online marketer, affiliate marketer or blogger (which I assume you are if reading this), be sure to watch this short webinar hosted by  Jim Edwards, where he is interviewing Mr. Cleland of the FTC.  Plus… remember YOU are responsible for the compliance of your site(s) – content and disclosures.  Of course most of us believe this is common sense, to be truthful and not misleading.  There still may be some points you’re not aware of, so check it out!

To your continued success,
J.

Those of you who are fans of the Kindle will love the new addition to the Kindle family!  With the new version you can receive books, newspapers, and magazines wirelessly whether you live in the U.S. or abroad in over 100 countries.

Take a look at the U.S. wireless version for the reduced price of $259, or the U.S. and Int’l wireless version for only $279.

Xmas is almost here, so start your wish list or surprise a special someone!  I’d love to hear your reviews of these as well.

Until next time,  J.

Even Those Who Diversify Their Portfolios Are Feeling the Pressure

November 13th, 2009 -- Posted in Misc Ranting | No Comments »

This is a very general statement, but living in the San Francisco Bay area for most of my life, I have not seen the economy take its toll the way it has this past year (even during the dot com bust.)  We have had financial centers, various technology centers from bio-tech to IT, a strong service industry, and certainly numerous enterprising entrepreneurs that were constantly rising to the top in spite of what many other areas of the country were experiencing. It was reflected in the real estate prices here too, they kept going up and up, even though logically it didn’t make sense, everyone loved it.

Now, I am seeing a struggling that hadn’t been as apparent before.  Maybe it’s because I am a landlord so I’m closer to some of it.  I am one of those who has diversified my portfolio, not just investments of precious metals, stocks, foreign currency and real estate, but also my business life is diversified as well.  I have an offline business as well as online, never wanting to leave my destiny to someone else. Thank goodness I do this though, because the pinch is everywhere and has a trickle down affect.

I currently have a tenant who needed to break his lease for a variety of reasons I won’t go into here….but I have always had wonderful tenants and haven’t had a problem “finding them”.  However, what I am seeing interviewing potential new tenants is something I have NEVER experienced before.  Out of 10 families this past week, 8 of them continue reading »

Kimberly Alyn Says It All In Up Time America

November 11th, 2009 -- Posted in Misc Ranting | 3 Comments »

These are really interesting times we live in, and you know I don’t care for the entitlement mentality of some.  In fact my tagline “Take control of your destiny or someone else will” reflects that.  So, when I saw this video by Kimberly Alyn I had to share it with you!  Listen closely….

Until next time, J.
