How Do You Get Coveted Back Links by Registering with Online Directories?

When I first began to brainstorm ideas for my website I came up with lots and lots of ideas. In fact, I had to be reined in on some things; well at least the budget did. And I had to really think how all of the bells and whistles would work for me once my site was up and running. After my website was completed I was so proud and emailed everyone I knew, however I needed more traffic to my site. Sound familiar?  Sure we had ensured the right Meta description, the right keywords, but still we needed more attention to the site. The great news for you is that I found exactly what was needed to generate the traffic wanted and get my site ranking higher.

The secret to being more visible online is to no longer be a secret to casual browsers of the web. You’ve got to get out there and let them know you exist. If you’re truly looking to market your brand and product you want real traffic coming to your site by the thousands and more. This can all be done by a number of ways however back links can be one of the quickest.

Back links are another entry way to your website in addition to your main web address. For example, you’ve seen “click here” options that lead to a webpage. The “click here” functions as a back link to that particular site. Back links give you privileges that your stand alone domain cannot give you. Google ranks pages based on how often they are referenced for a certain category. The more places your link shows up the better. This increases your chances of reaching more people at a higher page rank. With back links your site will show up in various natural searches based on the categories you’ve listed.

There are various ways to get back links including having other sites link to your website, create your own affiliate program, or registering your site with online directories. Online directories follow a strict code of ethics when it comes to setting guidelines for the types of websites they accept. In fact, most have editors that review submissions to ensure the site meets their standards. Rules may be anything from restricting the number of categories your website can be listed to not allowing any websites that are “under construction”, or even replicated sites. Each directory has its own rules and the editors of the each directory have the option to accept or reject a URL. When submitting to any online directory it’s important to follow all of the rules to ensure your website passes with flying colors.

There are three different ways to get registered with online directories:

Manual submissions are a good way to get registered online. This is where you research the list of online directories and submit your website directory by directory. Online directories such as www.bigall.com and www.01webdirectory.com charge absolutely nothing to submit a URL while others may have a fee based on the number of directories you wish to submit.

Another option paid submissions where you pay a service to submit your website for you. When choosing a service to submit your website look to see how many directories they have access to. This is important as you want to be submitted to as many directories as possible. Also, look to see if they offer a refund if for some reason your website is not accepted. This may be hidden so “look before you leap”.  Paid submission services give you an option to choose pay-by-submission or based on a block of submissions. For 100 submissions you pay only $14 at http://www.directorymaximizer.com where they have access to over 1200 directories. They’ll also keep track of the sites you’ve submitted and check for duplications.

Automatic submissions are a combination of the manual and the paid submission option. Most of the automatic submissions come in the form of submission software. The tool comes with access to thousands of directories that you submit yourself, however the process is much faster since there’s no research involved. A free submission software option is www.easysubmits.com which keeps track of any directories you’ve visited, directories you need to visit, and those that have approved your website. Other software submitters may have a lower number of directories but still be worth a try such as http://directorysubmitter.imwishlist.com which provides details regarding each directory such as its Alexa ranking and PageRank. This information can be very helpful when choosing online directories.

All of the options give you access to numerous directories. Whether you choose to manually submit your website, hire someone, or use automatic submission software, the end result is higher traffic and a greater opportunity to get noticed on the web. In the end you’ll have coveted back links making your website that much more visible.

Until next time,  J.
