My last post talked about my introduction to the Livescribe Pulse Pen at my Mastermind meeting. In addition to that cool little “tool”, I was able to play with the Amazon Kindle 2 . I hadn’t paid too much attention to the first version when it came out, because I’m a fan of actually holding a book when I want to read. Also, I’m not sure whether I’d use it more for personal than business. Admittedly though, some of the features really impressed me:
- There are several sizes of fonts to choose from. It’s easy to change the size and the color tones used are easy on the eyes. (I think they should add an option for a “backlit” screen so you could read at night without a light)
- There is access to an on-line dictionary and Wikipedia for those occasions you are needing more information on a word, term or topic
- You can also do some Internet searches (it’s not as powerful as a computer) but it did pull up a number of blogs we searched!
- This is one of my favorite features - the speech-to-text . While it is still somewhat robotic, it’s really not too bad. So when you are driving you can still make progress on the book you’re “reading” by listening to it. The next version of “books on tape”! (Did I mention you can speed it up or slow it down, change the volume and listen with headphones?) Publishers have a choice to offer this feature
- Huge selection of books, magazines and daily newspapers to download. Many are free, but most have a charge that seems reasonable
- I still like to have the ability to highlight parts of books I want to come back to for reference. While they do have a feature to do this, it only underlines the parts to “highlight”. It would be nice if they could add a color to it. One plus though, you can choose to email the designated highlights (so you can set up documents on your computer with just the items you want to save for reference)

I came across information today on Suze Orman’s new book titled "2009 Action Plan - Keeping Your Money Safe and Sound ". Did you know that she is giving it away Free ? You can go to Oprah.com and download a PDF version. I had best intentions of writing this sooner, but the holidays, kids home from college, and business commitments kept me from completing it.
Unfortunately, and I mean that seriously - this book (I.O.U.S.A.) is what we all needed to read years ago, before it was even published. Thank goodness it finally has been making the rounds to educate us - even though some think it is too late. continue reading »

If you are like me, then your New Years resolution list can become a bit overwhelming. I have business goals, as well as financial milestones, personal development, travel, family time, household projects…. I could go on; as I’m sure you can too! As I mentioned yesterday, one of the keys is to allocate time for these with realistic timelines. There are many circumstances though, when it just makes sense to review alternatives to doing the tasks or projects yourself. If you haven’t already explored outsourcing, you may want to add this to your arsenal for accomplishing more this year. By the way, a great book on this topic is The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris .
Here are a few sources that provide services ranging from doing research, article & blog writing, press releases, continue reading »

"Make a Million While You’re still Young Enough to Enjoy It" by Peter Bielagus
I had the pleasure of listening to this young entrepreneur and writer speak at the last M2 Wealth Masters Int’l. Conference. He was energetic, humorous, wise for his years, and has a message for young adults (primarily college age) ….. HE speaks their "lingo". I purchased his book and after reading it this past weekend, I will be purchasing numerous others to give to the young adults in our lives for holiday gifts.
Like his speaking style, Peter discusses a variety of financial topics and breaks them down in simple language. Here are some general categories that he explains with examples that kids "will get": continue reading »

Are you one of the 20 plus million people who work from home?
Forbes estimates that 70 million more people will start a business in the next 5 years. Does this tell you something - that the possibilities are limitless for those who
pursue their own home business…..
To quote economic advisor Paul Zane Pilzer , author of the New York Times best seller, The Next Millionaires - entrepreneurship is on the rise. "Home-based businesses are one of the fastest growing segments in our economy, and that trend will only continue, as the age of the corporation now gives way to the age of the entrepreneur". He also says, "In today’s world, working for yourself or a small company is actually the safer route, and working for a large corporation has become the riskier proposition".
Leave a comment and let us know if you agree with this or not.
To read more you can follow this link to purchase his book - The Next Millionaires.
