I’ve heard it said that a huge part of succeeding in life is wrapped up not in the events of life themselves, but in how we react or respond to those events or circumstances. I believe it to be true.

It helps me to actually verbalize the frustrations. Then when I hear myself whining, I’m able (often) to bring myself up short and re-group. I don’t know if that makes sense or not.

LOL! The last full "vacation" I can remember taking where I really did not have to be anywhere other than to make the boat over and back, was my honeymoon back in... 1982... to Catalina Island off the coast of California. That was a full week immersed in the slow going pace and a real "culture shock" when we docked back in Los Angeles. In between, we have "gone places." But the only other longer trip was 10 days back east to the general area of where I was born. Again, the difference between the east and west coast (where I am) and the 30+ years it had been since I'd been back there, resulted in 10 days of "adjusting" and having to leave before that really happened - and coming away with the feeling of "oh! I should have done ___ or gone ___." Disappointing really. The remaining time in terms of getting away has never really been "getting away" at all. For the following two decades, we did nothing but visit the in laws, taking the same roads over and over and over... not restful nor regenerating. Hmmmm..... As you can see your video has hit a nerve! Oh, and you mention a person starting out with 2 weeks, many jobs start out with a 1 week vacation, only available after being on the job for a year. If a person is lucky, and doesn't have to use up the accumulating time for other reasons, what can you possibly do with one lousy week?! I do work at home, too, as you know. He said every time someone asks, "How are you?" make your answer "Excellent!" even if your not. I do this and the surprise on people's faces is pleasant to see. You can see they stop and think and most smile (even if they were grumpy when they asked and didn't really expect an answer back lol!). It's also really good because you really cannot say the word Excellent! without automatically giving yourself a lift :) Thanks for asking!
