All of the Changes with Google Have Got Me Thinking

October 6th, 2009 -- Posted in Another Welcomed Weekend, Misc Ranting, Vacations and Fun, personal development | 5 Comments »

In fact the last couple of weeks, all of the Google changes over the last number of months, have had me thinking so much I needed some mountain time to clear my head.  My husband had a lull in his project schedule so we headed up to my favorite lake in the mountains, Pinecrest.  We stayed for 5 days and hiked about 5 miles each day. It was quiet there since school is back in.  Only a few other hikers and fisherman enjoying the solitude.

We had a busy summer with family committments, caretaking, house & yard projects and running our businesses, so it felt good to get recharged. We unplugged the phones and computers this time, normally not allowing ourselves to be disconnected for so long.  Not much changed while we were gone though, except our outlook.  Ready to hit the Fall season now, and make this last quarter of the year really count!

How about you?  Are you ready to move your business to the next level?
What do you do to recharge your batteries, and have you had a chance to do so lately?

Forget China ~ Women Are the New Driving Force

August 28th, 2009 -- Posted in Misc Ranting, Wealth Strategies | 2 Comments »

I was recently on a tele-seminar with Ali Brown (one of my mentors) , and she discussed some interesting statistics about women in business that I thought I’d share:

  • Women are surpassing men on payrolls
  • More women want to be entrepreneurs, as we’re not willing to sacrifice family time anymore just to be a part of a company career ladder
  • Women businesses are growing at a rate of 3 times faster than that of men’s businesses
  • Every day there are 420 women who start a business – double that of men

Care to comment on what this may mean to you and your business?

Millions Face Smaller Social Security Checks

August 24th, 2009 -- Posted in Misc Ranting, Retirement, Wealth Strategies | No Comments »

So did you see in the news today, that millions of people will be faced with smaller social security checks?  What does this mean for you? Are you collecting social security yet, or even hope to?  Here’s a quote from the article….

"Long-term financial problems -
Social Security is also facing long-term financial problems. The retirement program is projected to start paying out more money than it receives in 2016. Without changes, the retirement fund will be depleted in 2037, according to the Social Security trustees’ annual report this year."

You can read the entire article here.

I’ve actually heard some authority’s state that this is optimistic and the monies will run out sooner.  Again, what does this mean to you? Have you started to realize that you do need to take control of your own destiny? Have you  thought of a way to supplement your income, possibly with starting your own business , even part time?  There are tremendous advantages to having your own business . Do you owe it to yourself (or at least your family) to start doing some research?  You don’t need to stress about money and the future if you take action and have a plan "B" .  Who knows it just might become your plan "A" !

Harley Ride Down the Concrete Paths

For those of you who have not yet subscribed to my other blog, BabyBoomersBlueprint , please go over and take a look at the updated page (Harley Rides Tab ) for a recent trip we took from Northern California to Southern California .  As I mention on the post, it was not my favorite ride, but there were a number of "golden nuggets" along the way that made it worthwhile!  I would love to hear about some of your favorite roads to ride…..
