Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just yell, "Uncle", like we did as a kid when a sibling was trouncing us? Wouldn’t it be nice if we could wake up tomorrow and all of the news this past month (plus) was a dream? Everything going on right now is preoccupying the minds of all Americans. Whether you work for a corporation, or have a home-based business, whether you are currently "okay" financially, or strung as tight as a rubber band - long term we will all be affected. Trump and Kiyosaki, in their book, "Why We Want You to be Rich", said the middle class is continue reading »

As more people are feeling the crunch in the economy, due to an increase cost in groceries and living expenses, (in addition to job losses), more people are either cashing in their retirement funds or borrowing against them despite penalties. There is concern that future retirees will be less prepared than now, because of drawing down savings for the short term. However, it might still be the best personal choice at the time for some. Read the linked article from www.msn.com to see some of the problems and choices being made.
I am a big advocate of continue reading »

So who do you think has the most vested interests in your financial future …. the so called experts, or yourself? Yes, the folks on Wall Street make big commissions (or used to) when you traded with them, but no-one cares about your money the way you do , or should. Many of us have been provided with guesses and opinions, but when I wanted to begin my journey to financial education I researched until I found a group with facts, honesty and integrity. And although this may sound like a "plug" for them, I can tell you sincerely, if I had not found continue reading »

Tomorrow is a day many have been waiting anxiously for - the day many say will have historic significance. If Obama wins, he will be the first black president. If he doesn’t win, I’ve read that it will be "the biggest collective error in the history of media and political establishment". We won’t know for sure until all the votes are counted, it appears this one may be close.
This will be an election that every vote will make a difference - regardless of who your choice is. We are fortunate that we are able to continue reading »

Contrary to what the media continually reports - people losing their homes to foreclosures, or deciding not to sell and taking theirs off of the market, there are still many who are taking the down turn in housing prices to make a purchase. For those of you who may be in that group you may have found that continue reading »

Most people I know have reinvented themselves throughout their careers, some more dramatically than others. I too, have taken steps to shake things up, get out of the old box, learning new skills that will allow me to follow my passions and be marketable in this ever changing world. If you make a decision to start your own business working from home it’s even more necessary to continue reading »

I work from
home and count my blessings each day. It’s particularly helpful at times such as this morning when I woke up with a headache…. I didn’t have to call "my boss" and say I would be late. I was able to get up and start work after it went away. Which ties in with yesterdays post, and what resonated with me about the title…
- One of my decisions to work from home was to eliminate a 1 1/2 hour commute each way
- Another reason was to work from where, when and with whom I wanted (like minded individuals, not whiners)
- Also, it is true that we can write our own paycheck (If you don’t put in the effort- you don’t get paid. But when you do, it can come back to you tenfold)
- I have been able to "donate" one morning each week driving for Meals on Wheels, my way of beginning to give back to the community
- During my life I have been divorced, widowed, and a single parent struggling to make ends meet. You might think because of that I’m driven for the money, but that’s not my "why". I am passionate about working with other women so they don’t have to "struggle" like I did. Through coaching and financial education products they are taught the difference between good and bad debt, and how to build for the future. Many start just wanting the education, then the supplemental income, and many are helping to teach others as well now.
You might say it’s a bit like "pay it forward"…… and one of the side benefits is that yes, the money part happens as well!
Leave a comment about why you like to work from home
Until next time, J.
