Light the Night Walk for Leukemia

Hi everyone!

I am participating again in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk on October 3rd in Walnut Creek, California in memory of Robert Harvie and would love your support to reach my goal.  Those of you who are not familiar with my background, I’ll share the short version ~ my husband was diagnosed with leukemia (ALL) a little more than 16 years ago.  He lost his battle 12 years ago last month at the age of 39.  Since then I have been a huge supporter of the society because they were one of the most helpful groups during our long journey.  It’s hard to believe 12 years has gone by already and fortunately great strides have been made in finding a cure, even for adults, which wasn’t always the case.  I am also walking continue reading »

Successful Home Business So You Can Laugh At The Headlines

November 6th, 2008 -- Posted in Wealth Strategies | No Comments »

Looking at the business section of a local newspaper can be enough to give even the stout-of-heart more than pause for worry. Economic times, worldwide, have taken a shift toward hard times ahead. "Liar loans," long the mainstay for unscrupulous mortgage lending (requiring no proof of income or assets) are but a fraction of the troubles facing many.

Other headlines indicate even more mortgage lending problems. Consumers are using credit cards to cover expenses now that their home values are declining. Yes, overall there is more financial doom and gloom at the moment then reason to celebrate.

Suggestion – Quit listening to CNN (Constantly Negative News). It will only paralyze you into "inaction." You will find yourself dwelling on the negative, which will then become your mindset. Instead, focus on the positives. This is a Global Economy with opportunities as abundant as your dreams.

Many (in spite of the U.S. economy) want to pursue home based businesses either to supplement their income or to make a change in lifestyle. The internet is a natural beginning point to search for a business that’s right for you.

But with too many options to choose from – many mere pie-in-the-sky hopes for instant riches – what constitutes a solid work at home business plan since having a plan is so critical?

A solid home business model should encompass three stages :

1. The means to get you out of your current financial situation
2. The tools to provide you with access to solid investments
3. The ability for you to also help others do the same.

Applying Stage One

A highly recommended plan of action would be to create the means (the money) to even start your home business. Versus taking out loans, charging up your credit cards, or begging your relatives for money, consider getting your personal finances in order. With a well-oiled system for getting out of debt, the freed-up money now becomes the source you use to go into business online. This can be done!

However, buyer beware. There are systems and services online – and broadcast all over the television – promising to get you out of debt. (Some even promise to make you rich!) Many are legitimate, many are not. Don’t fall for believing everything you hear; due diligence on your part is the key. Desperate people do desperate things. Step outside desperation and get the assistance you need to have a solid debt-relief plan.

With that idea in mind, again there are companies at your disposal to help you. Turning to professionals for help – even if you believe you don’t need help – may be the turning point that has been missing in your life.

Coming soon… How to accomplish Stage Two

Dodging The Downsizing Disaster Because It Can Happen To You

November 6th, 2008 -- Posted in Wealth Strategies | No Comments »

In today’s world, nothing is certain. Decades ago, when you took a job it meant financial security for the rest of your life if you stayed with it. Employers valued skilled employees.

Not so today.

Employment, the sheer act of having a job, has become a disposable commodity. Employees never really know from day to day if their job will exist tomorrow. Uncertainty plagues the backs of minds all across the country, around the world. It’s unfortunate, but treating their employees right, and trying to hang on to the skilled and efficient, appears to be taking a back seat to profits. The catch phrase is "downsizing" which means nothing more then someone (or multiple someones) are about to lose their job.

So what can you do to protect yourself in a shaky world?

Hundreds, if not hundreds of thousands, of individuals and families are turning to the internet to find that one thing that will bring a steady paycheck and build into the business of their dreams. But choosing the proper "right thing" is the stumbling block of most.

We are told to play to our strengths and this is solid advice. However, there are also ways to tap into your until now unknown strengths and build them into a sound business venture.

The best advice, though, is to also take a look closer to home. If disaster should strike, are you financially prepared to take that hit – losing your job? Will you be able to sustain yourself and your family more than a week, a month, several months, or even years?

The answer for most of us is no.

Lucky for many, there are the online opportunities that combine both financial security with an incoming producing revenue. It’s discovering the right one, that fits your goals and your work ethic that is the challenge.

The person looking to make a quick buck, or get rich quick, is almost certainly, also the person who has not done a thing to protect himself or herself should the unemployment shoe drop. These individuals will make a bad situation worse.

My best advice is to think not just in the here and now, but down the road. Create stability for yourself online – where you have control. Build to become the master of your own fate, and explore only those potential businesses that will brighten your future.

Women In Business Leaders No Longer Followers

November 1st, 2008 -- Posted in Wealth Strategies | No Comments »

I recently came across an interesting and informative article in a back issue of Business Week titled, “As Leaders, Women Rule,” and here’s an interesting tidbit or two taken from that article:

“…new research is showing that men ought to be the ones doing more of the imitating. In fact, after years of analyzing what makes leaders most effective and figuring out who’s got the Right Stuff, management gurus now know how to boost the odds of getting a great executive: Hire a female.”

Let’s face it, women are better trained to handle difficult tasks. Started eons ago, the tough jobs were engrained into women, almost preprogrammed so to speak. From raising families to keeping everyone fed, clothed, and happy the idea that a woman’s work is never done has been drilled into us for more generations than any of us can count.

So it’s not surprising (at least to women) that as executives and business owners women do rule.

Women are, much more often than men, scoring higher in producing higher-quality work, goal setting, and mentoring employees. Not my opinion, but statiscal fact. And, the article goes on to say, that these types of findings were “accidentally stumbled on” in the course of pulling together hundreds of evaluations (dare I suggest who was doing the compiling?).

The reasons for coming to these conclusions are quite simple as evidenced by the statement, “Women think through decisions better than men, are more collaborative, and seek less personal glory.” That was the statement of IBM executive Douglas Elix.

Another interesting fact is that women are more in tune so to speak with the global information age. The reason? Teamwork and partnerships are a critical component of the new digital age. And women do work better – not only individually but in groups.

As a woman, you have a tremendous advantage over men when it comes to choosing and running a home business. A woman’s training is ideal for such a venture. Willing to put in the time to see results, willing to study and apply, willing to listen, willing to follow through. All key components to running a successful home based business, all key ingredients in (just about) every woman’s genetic make up.

So, ladies listen up! Turn your personal power to your advantage, and your common sense and desire to success. Money making opportunities abound on the net! Take the digital information age by the horns and go for it!
