A BIT ABOUT ME … JANET GIACOMA

Over the years I’ve recreated myself financially a couple of times; the first due to a divorce, the second due to the death of my spouse. I’ve always been fortunate in earning an above average income and would “save”, but I found that alone is not enough to get ahead.

As a single parent for many years I missed out on a lot at home because of long hours at work and no control of my time. In 2001, I left my employer of 17 years and pursued starting my own business as a project management professional. This transition allowed me flexibility with a good income, however, I’m still not completely in control of my time.

I love the business I am in, but my long term goal is to work “from anywhere” as I travel.  So now, as I make another transition into a career in direct sales and Internet marketing – I’m getting my time back and having a blast! I am living my dream, by assisting serious entrepreneurs in building a profitable online business with multiple income streams, and all from home.  While my project management business is still thriving, I am loving watch this business grow, allowing me choices.

Providing tools and developing action plans through coaching and discussions which range from wealth building strategies, online marketing, goal setting and creating a “success” mindset, I set the stage to “Take control of your destiny or someone else will.”

On a personal note, as balance and harmony in all areas of my life are important, I enjoy gardening, traveling locally (on our Harley) and abroad (via other modes), reading, (primarily self-development lately), family time when our kids are in town, and having a kitchen full of friends and family – cooking, eating, drinking, and having fun – Live, Love, Laugh! I also volunteer for Meals on Wheels and look forward to seeing my “friends” each week, sharing a smile and a hug..

What Do You Have Planned This Summer?

April 24th, 2009 -- Posted in HowTo Business Questions, Marketing Tips, Wealth Strategies, personal development | No Comments »

I’m curious. How many of you view the summer months as a time to kick back, relax, and do just enough business to get by? Is it by choice…or is it because you find your business slows down in the summer months?

I ask because I’m intrigued by the new teleclass Millionaire Entrepreneurial Coach Ali Brown is hosting. It’s called “Ali’s Top 10 Recommendations to Kick-Up Your Revenues This Summer!”

Ali believes it doesn’t matter what else is happening in the world around you, if you want to grow your business, you will.
In fact, it was over a summer when she took her business from the low 6-figures to breaking 7-figures.

Here’s the link if you want to check out her teleclass and signup:

But don’t forget to leave a comment. I really want to know – are you planning on growing your business this summer, worried you won’t be able to grow your business, or are you planning on taking it easy? :-)

Until next time,  J.

Would You Use a Kindle for Business?

March 19th, 2009 -- Posted in Book Review, Home Business Ideas, Misc Ranting, Time Management, personal development | No Comments »

My last post talked about my introduction to the Livescribe Pulse Pen at my Mastermind meeting.  In addition to that cool little “tool”, I was able to play with the Amazon Kindle 2 .  I hadn’t paid too much attention to the first version when it came out, because I’m a fan of actually holding a book when I want to read.  Also, I’m not sure whether I’d use it more for personal than business. Admittedly though, some of the features really impressed me:

  • There are several sizes of fonts to choose from. It’s easy to change the size and the color tones used are easy on the eyes.  (I think they should add an option for a “backlit” screen so you could read at night without a light)
  • There is access to an on-line dictionary and Wikipedia for those occasions you are needing more information on a word, term or topic
  • You can also do some Internet searches (it’s not as powerful as a computer) but it did pull up a number of blogs we searched!
  • This is one of my favorite features – the speech-to-text . While it is still somewhat robotic, it’s really not too bad.  So when you are driving you can still make progress on the book you’re “reading” by listening to it.  The next version of “books on tape”! (Did I mention you can speed it up or slow it down, change the volume and listen with headphones?)   Publishers have a choice to offer this feature
  • Huge selection of books, magazines and daily newspapers to download.  Many are free, but most have a charge that seems reasonable
  • I still like to have the ability to highlight parts of books I want to come back to for reference.  While they do have a feature to do this, it only underlines the parts to “highlight”.  It would be nice if they could add a color to it.  One plus though, you can choose to email the designated highlights (so you can set up documents on your computer with just the items you want to save for reference)

Livescribe Pulse Pen Taking Your Business to the Next Level

March 16th, 2009 -- Posted in Another Welcomed Weekend, Home Business Ideas, Misc Ranting, Time Management, Wealth Strategies, personal development | 4 Comments »

Last week was a blur with business activities, classes and preparing for my Mastermind Group which consisted of 3 days away sharing marketing strategies, business goals and objectives, as well as tips & tricks.  Much of the time was spent on being exposed to some of the “new” technologies (for me anyway…..) that may be used to not only stay ahead of the curve, but to also assist with streamlining certain business tasks potentially taking your business to the next level.

One of my favorites was the Livescribe Pulse Smartpen.  While this is marketed predominately to students and journalists, those of us who attend live events, trainings and seminars will benefit from it as well.  A couple of the key features are:

  • You can transfer digital copies of your notes directly to your computer;
  • While you are taking handwritten notes you can record what is being said at the same time;
  • You have the ability to replay any of the recordings by clicking on a word and it will “find” the associated audio;
  • You can share notes and collaborate with others online by loading both the handwritten notes and audio

Take a look at this short video which explains the features and benefits of this pen in more detail, as I barely scratched the surface…..

There have been numerous reviews of the pen over the last 6 months, including those which can be found at continue reading »
