It’s not uncommon for this time of year to focus on goal setting and strategy implementation for the beginning of the next year. This article by Rich Schefren touches on the process of how to come up with those items. I was amused by his stating he has a list of 62 items to incorporate into his "New Year’s list. I too, have numerous things to accomplish so the key is at the end of his article…. be sure and schedule the items in. As with many "resolutions" there can be a tendency to come out of the shoot, full of enthusiasm, only to tucker out after a few months - so be realistic with your time and pace yourself. Example: I use the first few months to focus primarily on my business goals, and then add my "personal" goals during the second quarter….and continue to add thereafter.

I discovered long ago that if I wanted to continually improve my company and my own performance I need to leverage my past experience for all it’s worth. Stated more simply - to make 2009 the best it can be, you need to continue reading »

There are some home business companies that claim you can achieve "instant success". While some people may experience "success" pretty quickly, the majority does not and the ads are full of hype. (This does not mean it’s a scam though - just full of hype!)

In a time when we rely so heavily on technology, what would you do if one day you woke up to not having access to all the familiar "tools" to run your business, even simple things such as your computer? In a nutshell, you’d be forced to press the "pause button" - just as I am today! It appears my system was overtaken by something bigger than what my skills could eliminate, so off to the "computer whiz" shop it went. I am borrowing my husband’s "clunker" this morning until he needs it.
While I won’t be able to run my business today and possibly tomorrow "as usual", it will give me an opportunity to catch up on other types of business activities that I tend to put off such as filing, and possibly reading the last couple of issues of Success magazine! (Yes, I am that far behind). Meanwhile, here are some items for you to think about doing, so an event like this doesn’t turn catastrophic.
1. Perform Regular System Backups - I cannot stress this enough. It will make a system "hiccup" or hard drive failure much less stressful when you know all of your files can be retrieved. Either back them up on a disc, a thumb drive, or as I do, on an external hard drive. This is the easiest because continue reading »

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just yell, "Uncle", like we did as a kid when a sibling was trouncing us? Wouldn’t it be nice if we could wake up tomorrow and all of the news this past month (plus) was a dream? Everything going on right now is preoccupying the minds of all Americans. Whether you work for a corporation, or have a home-based business, whether you are currently "okay" financially, or strung as tight as a rubber band - long term we will all be affected. Trump and Kiyosaki, in their book, "Why We Want You to be Rich", said the middle class is continue reading »

Well, it probably isn’t if you work for someone else, but the saying, "the sky is the limit" when you work for yourself in the right home-based business had to come from somewhere!
First of all, squelch the myth that all network marketing and home businesses are scams. There truly are legitimate, serious, and honest opportunities available. Like anything you research, it may take some time to find the right one for you.
Here are some suggestions of what to consider when looking for a business opportunity to generate $20K or more per month: continue reading »

This week my posts will be minimal (if any, other than the one you’re reading) as I’m off on vacation, cruising to Mexico. However, my home business is still working for me while I’m gone - how about yours?
The reason I can generate leads and sales while traveling is because of the systems in place. If you want to be able to travel and work simultaneously here are some suggestions of items to address when exploring a home based business:

I grew up in a pretty conservative household when it came to saving and spending money. Guess that’s why I started teaching my daughter, Mikaila, when she was young (& the other kids in my life) to be responsible with their money early on. By the way, she’s the baby and just turned 21 today! Happy Birthday kiddo!
I believe in giving children an allowance for two reasons. One, it instills in them a sense of pride completing a responsibility and receiving something tangible for their efforts. But secondarily (& most important I think), is to teach them how to manage money early on.
I gave the kids 4 "piggy banks" when they were about 4 years old and explained continue reading »

If you’ve been watching the news then you see how the media grabs something, hangs on like a pit-bull, and sometimes doesn’t report as objectively as their training has taught them. (My opinion anyway). Not that we aren’t experiencing a time like no other, and that we should be cautious…. If you’ve been looking for a home-based business you’re probably frightened away by some of the "hype" you read as well.
My colleagues, Dr. Bob Clarke and his wife Rosemary address this continue reading »
